At Alderman Peel High School, we believe that STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) is not just a collection of subjects — it’s a dynamic, creative, and future-facing way of learning. Our curriculum is enriched with hands-on workshops, employer-led projects, industry visits and competitions that bring STEM to life across all year groups.
From the moment students join us in Year 7, they engage in exciting experiences that spark curiosity and develop the problem-solving, teamwork, and technical skills they need for 21st century careers.
Each year group benefits from a range of STEM enrichment opportunities that complement the D&T curriculum and connect classroom learning to real-world applications.
In recognition of the work Mrs Moffat has done to develop a STEM curriculum, she was invited by STEMUnity and EngineeringUK to record a short video about her experience of using their bursaries to fund STEM events. In this video, she shares her top three tips for organising a Big Bang in School Day. The video will be featured in a webinar for teachers receiving bursaries next academic year, offering inspiration on how to make the most of the funding—both to deliver a successful STEM event and to create multiple opportunities for students throughout the year.
