At APHS, our STEM Club students have designed, built, and raced three incredible electric kit cars — each with its own personality and story. To give our cars meaningful names, we used the APHS acronym as a starting point, reflecting our school values of Ambition, Pride, Happiness, and Success.
Our first car, APHS Ambition, celebrates the value at the heart of all our STEM projects: a drive to achieve, innovate, and reach for new goals. When it came to naming our second car, we decided to take a sea-themed approach to reflect our coastal location, as ‘Pride’ didn’t feel quite right, and so APHS Poseidon was born, evoking the power and energy of the sea.
For our third car, we again looked to mythology for inspiration. APHS Hercules reflects strength and determination, a fitting name for our Greenpower G2 kit car designed for primary-age pupils.
