APHS is incredibly fortunate to have received a second year of funding from Team Repair UK, allowing us to grow this exciting initiative even further. What began as a student-led lunchtime club has now become part of our APHS STEM Club, bringing together Year 5 and 6 pupils from our feeder primary schools with new Year 7 students as they learn and repair alongside one another.

Using real broken gadgets and specialist repair kits, students diagnose faults, safely disassemble products, test components, replace parts and bring everyday electronics back to life. This year they completed all four Team Repair challenges – the Retro Games Controller, Pocket Microscope, Wind-Up Torch and Remote Control Car Controller – developing practical engineering skills, confidence with tools, resilience and teamwork.

More than learning how to fix gadgets, students discovered the importance of the circular economy, proving that when something breaks, the first thought should be repair, not replace.
