The Greenpower F24 category gives secondary school students aged 11-16 the chance to build and race full-size electric kit cars on professional race circuits around the UK. Students take responsibility for every stage of the journey—from assembling the chassis and wiring the electronics to testing performance, analysing data, planning race strategy and practising pit stops, before competing against other school teams on the track.
Our F24 programme began in 2022 and has grown into one of APHS's flagship STEM projects, with students racing at the Lotus Test Track, Hethel and reaching the Greenpower International Final at Goodwood Motor Circuit, proving that a small coastal school can compete with the very best!
APHS Ambition launched our STEM Club after funding from the Dudgeon & Sheringham Shoal Community Fund via Norfolk Community Foundation enabled us to purchase our first Greenpower F24 kit car in 2022. Fourteen students became the founding team, learning engineering skills from scratch as they built the car in Mrs Moffat's D&T classroom.
First APHS Greenpower kit car (2022) built the founding STEM Club team members
Gained support from Kieron Scillitoe from Scillitoe Bros Garage
First races at Lotus Test Track, Hethel
Qualified for the Greenpower International Final at Goodwood (2024 & 2025)
Winner – Best Portfolio Award at Lotus (2023) and Goodwood (2024)
Winner – Ford Engineering Award at Goodwood (2025)
Ambition represents exactly what its name suggests—the courage to try something new.
After the success of Ambition, further funding from the JP Blanch Fund via Norfolk Community Foundation allowed us to expand in 2023. Rather than using 'Pride', students chose Poseidon, inspired by our coastal location and the power of the sea.
With two cars on the grid and the continued support of Kieron Scillitoe from Scillitoe Bros Garage, APHS could double student participation and compete with two fully independent teams.
Joined the fleet in 2023 expanding our STEM Club by another 12 students
Regular competitor at Lotus Test Track
Helped establish APHS as a recognised Greenpower school
Our STEM Club portfolios document the creativity, teamwork, and determination that drive everything we do. Designed and updated by our talented student design team, they showcase our journey – from kit assembly to race days and achievements. We are extremely proud to have won three consecutive awards for our portfolios (Regional Heats at Lotus, Hethel in 2023 and 2025, and at the International Final at Goodwood in 2024), a testament to the dedication and skill of our students.
